Ivory II Grand Pianos
By Tim Hoover
As a seasoned performer and consultant in the music industry, I often get asked the question, “How can I get the best piano sound without spending a fortune?” That question used to haunt me, because while I knew some manufactured piano sounds were good, I had found none that were truly great. This changed the first time I experienced IvoryTM.
The first thing I noticed when I got this new power piano installed was that Ivory literally took everything I could have asked for in a piano plug-in and put it right at my finger tips. Unlike most software pianos that sound very thin, Ivory provides an astounding 18 velocity layers per note. It is not just the sheer detail that comes into play here but the excellence in which this plug in was created.
All three pianos are sampled to perfection and the interface lets you tweak any piano as desired. The fact that dynamic range is adjustable, as well as key noise, pedal noise, and even the location of the listener are just a few examples of the flexibility of this program. Room size, chorus, EQ, are adjustable. And a synth pad can be added to the mix, if desired.
To call Ivory “inspiring” would be an understatement. This plug-in literally changed the way I write music. Think about it – to have, at your finger tips, three of the most popular grand pianos in the world without the inconvenience of setting up microphones, paying an engineer, or paying for tuning. Thanks to the engineers at Synthogy, all I have to do is press “record.”
If you’re serious about music creation, this program is a necessity. Just like a doctor needs a scalpel or a mechanic needs a wrench, for pianists, this tool is worth the investment.
